Can anybody reproduce this issue ?

Hi Jacek,
I have Intel controller with device_id 0x2772 but can't reproduce your
issue. I'll try to find appropriate hardware and pass tests on it.

Re: Strange behaviour of the Pg.i830
Hi Oleg,
the Pg.i830 works fine also with 0x29c2, but believe me on 0x27ae device you will see these black lines.
Just shutdown and start Photon GUI once again or change graphics mode.

Re: Strange behaviour of the Pg.i830
Hi Oleg,
I found simple workaround for this issue.
Just switch to graphics console nr 2 and back (Ctrl+Alt+2; Ctl+Alt+1)
and then all black lines will dissapear.
Looks like a problem with Pg.i830 driver.
It is possible to implement some kind of "refreshment mechanism" inside Pg.i830 called during driver start ?

Jacek

I start Photon in the 1280x1024 mode.
When I change resolution to 1024x768 then everything is ok.
But when I return to a previous mode (1280x1024) then several black lines appear on the screen.
On this machine black lines are visible after resolution change from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 and 1152x864 to 1280x1024.
Previous release of the Pg.i830 works fine.

Re: Strange behaviour of the Pg.i830
Hi Oleg,
Problem with black lines still exists in the new Pg.i830.
So far I have checked driver with 0x2772 and 0x2572 device.
Attached picture comes from 0x2772 and is showing screen after mode change from 800x600 onto 1024x768.
The 0x2572 has similar behaviours.
For example mode change from 800x600 onto 1280x1024 is ok while from 1024x768 onto 1280x1024 not.
Very important is that driver taken from patch-QNX425-0716-GFX-DRVR.tar works fine on the both boards/devices.

I can't reproduce this issue with 0x2572 device. Did you install QNX from
the QNX4 Product CD 2009 from scratch? What is mainboard you use? Can you
provide me clear and full steps to get your issue on clean PC (how to
install, configure, run).

Re: Strange behaviour of the Pg.i830
Hi Oleg,
>I can't reproduce this issue with 0x2572 device.
Looks like this issue is dependent on PC configuration.
I mean CPU speed, overall performance and etc.
I had two boards based on ATOM.
One of them the Pg.i830 was working fine, but on the another driver has failed (problem with black lines).
>Did you install QNX from the QNX4 Product CD 2009 from scratch?
Yes.
>What is mainboard you use?
For example:
- Advantech PXA-6010VG (0x2772)
- Intel desktop D865GLC (0x2572)
>Can you provide me clear and full steps to get your issue on clean PC
>(how to install, configure, run).
Nothing special. Install O/S and Photon from the latest CD.
Modify /ect/config/trap/crt.x file in oreder to run Pg.i830 driver.
Change resolution under Photon (try different modes) or exit from Photon and start GUI once again (# ph).

Jacek

Re: Strange behaviour of the Pg.i830
Hello,
I have seen something similar long long time ago on a motherboard with integrated graphics chip.
It turned out to be a problem of "memory bandwidth" allocated for the graphics chip. If it was too low, something
similar happened.
Do you have integrated chip on the motherboard? Is there any BIOS option about "bandwidth" for it?

Ok, but driver taken from patch-QNX425-0716-GFX-DRVR.tar is free of this issue.

All graphics controllers supported by Pg.i830 are integrated.

Not sure. I need to check this...

Hi Oleg,
Yesterday I say issue with black lines on the another 0x2572 device.
Can I get an output from show_pci command run on your PC ?
I will send to you output from all affected machines ...

Re: Strange behaviour of the Pg.i830
Hi Jacek,
I've tested the Pg.i830 driver on the Asus P4P800-VM mainboard. See
attached output of show_pci -vvv command.
Respectfully,
Oleg

Have you tried to restart Photon several times ?
Try (Ctl+Alt+Shift+Backspace) and #ph and again ...
Or.
Try to change graphics mode (switch between different resolutions) but do not accept this change, press "Restore (F3)"
button.
I attached output from my PC, but I'm not sure if this can help.
Pg.i830 issue is not easy to diagnose.

Jacek

Re: Strange behaviour of the Pg.i830
Hi Jacek,
Yes, I've tried to restart Photon and change graphics mode. But no such luck.
I think it's simple to use old (working) driver instead of new one.

Oleg

Re: Strange behaviour of the Pg.i830
Hi Oleg,
We have discovered this issue on the 0x27ae device (ATOM platform) and it was with Pg.i830 driver released on the latest
QNX4 Installation CD (the second release of graphics driver).
The latest Pg.i830 driver is still affected.

For device like 0x2572 this can be a solution but now for the newer graphics controllers.
Have you tried to compare "working version" of the Pg.i830 with newer releases ?

Jacek

Re: Strange behaviour of the Pg.i830
Hi Jacek,
Sorry for the delay with answer. The previous "working version" and the
new one were built from different sources, so it is impossible to compare.

Oleg
