Creating Forums#

This is a suggested list of forums for specifically for the QNX OS project. There may be other forums with the same topics for larger scopes or other projects.

Post to the metawiki forum to discuss what forums we want (including ones we don't need). Here is the proposed list so far, with links to the forums that have been created.

Proposed Name	Proposed description
microbugs	kernel/proc bug reports
newcode	ideas for new code / future features
OS-General	general questions, including beginner questions, plus anything not covered in other forums.
buildbugs	compile/build/debug: problems and questions, also post your "make clean" warning here.
kerneltech	SMP / processes and memory management / Libraries/ Interrupt/ scheduling / magic / partitioning
hardware	Kernel developers dropping things on their feet.
metawiki	discuss issues of the os wiki infrastructure: wiki layout, organization, bugs, admin issues

Posting guidelines#

Someone suggested the rule "If you wouldnt say it to your Mom, don't post it here." However, unless you've got a mom like Dilbert's (who can tell the difference between packet-routing networks and circuit-switching networks) some guidelines less maternally-based seens appropriate:

For everyone:

• All postings must be civil.
• Off-topic posts must be humorous and not dominate the group.

For QNX employees:

• Don't mention any topic covered by a customer's NDA with QNX.
• Don't talk about you-know-what until you-you-know-when.
