OS Status Meeting Minutes

January 28, 2008

Steve Bergwerff

• Important Trinity 2 dates to be aware of:
  • M5 build needs to be redone. There was a problem with the assembly PIC code for libc which has been corrected by the tools team. A new build is expected today.

Brian Stecher

• Fixed Trinity2 PR 55025 typed memory crash, required for special customer code drop.
• Good part of last week spent on Trinity2 PR 53972 applications crashing with SIGBUS. Had provided a new linker script but that didn’t work for the customer. Modified it again and it worked better but still failure. Now down to mkifs internal errors that need to be resolved. Hope to have this resolved today.
• Spent quite a bit of time prepping Trinity 2 special customer drop. Required rerunning drop procedures a few times but cleaned it up so should be smoother next time.
• Looking at a new Trinity2 customer reported issue on SMP.
• This week also plan to go through code inspections for locking on Memory Partitioning.

Mike Kisel

• Waiting on code inspections out for review on Memory Partitioning. Have a conditional approval from Attilla but need Brian to review as well.
• Currently working on event deliver code.
• Waiting on review from Brian and Attilla on potential locking issues with Memory Partitioning.
• Put in a fix for PR 28828 that was raised prior to Trinity 2 but was also seen in the Memory Partitioning testing.
• Generally working on solidifying Memory Partitioning for Trinity2.

Attilla Danko

• Helping out on Memory Partitioning with code reviews and solutions for SMP mutual exclusion.
• Working on Trinity 2 PR 52847 for issues with one of the ppc boards.
• Responding to questions regarding process certifications.

Colin Burgess

• Not in attendance today.

• On vacation last week but prior to that spent week analyzing Trinity2 performance benchmarks.
• Fixed a Trinity 2 path space PR that turned out to be a test issue.
• This week, continue working on performance analysis.

Doug Bailey

• Working on an issue with experimental code for SH SMP. Discovered that the issue seems to be related to variable page size. Will continue to investigate.
• Have two other PRs looking at that were raised by driver team on SH SMP.

Shiv Nagarajan

• Working on Trinity 2 special customer source drop. Working to resolve an issue with command line processing.
• Working on two customer reported issues for Trinity 2.
  • PR 54902 for a memory depletion issue. Discovered a simpler test for reproducing it so no longer need assistance from customer to do so.
  • PR 54903 for a reported crash seen under low memory conditions.

David Joo

• Continued work on getting code coverage numbers from current test suite. Was able to get this for pipe. Had some environment problems so rebuilt in a 6.4 environment.

Peter Mitsis

• Last week found root cause for PR 53171 for an issue with ln. Have a workaround.
• Spent some time looking at HFS file system.
• Spent a good part of the week on project for posting file system code on F27. Getting a complete list of what needs to be posted and building it.

Angelina Gomes

• Currently working on OS and IDE documentation.
• Colin identified some additional items to document for Trinity2. Requested some further info.
• Documented APM events based on info received from Mike.
