The configure script has an embedded libtool in it that doesn't work.
The following seems to work:

# cd databases/php-mysql
# bmake configure
# ln -sf ../../../.wrapper/bin/libtool work/php-5.2.17/ext/mysql/libtool
# bmake install

Not sure where / why it goes off the rails...
