cp -V
By mistake I did cp -V /dev/hd0t78 file. I though the partition was smaller then 2G but it's bigger. At one point cp
printed File too large, which is fine.

The problem is that cp was wrong when calculating the copy speed. It was 40000kb/s on a 100Mbits network ;)

40Mb/s < 100 Mb?

Got the capital b mixed up. It's 40Mbyte versus 100Mbits:)
