Compact Flash x86 Bootloader Hangup
We have an existing Compact Flash QNX6.4.0 load running on an x86 based machine. We are utilizing the standard pc1 and
pc2 bootloaders, set up with a series of commands
dloader -H $TARGET pc1
dloader -H ${TARGET}t79 pc2
On a Compact Flash 1.0 standard, this works great. However, we need to move to the more modern CF3 standard, and the
boot procedure is hanging on the "Press Esc for .altboot" line - it displays the text there, but does not display any
dots afterward. Also, getting to that point seems to take significantly longer than on our older flash chip.
One thing we have noticed is that the BIOS reports that the newer flash chips are using Ultra DMA mode 2, whereas UDMA
is disabled on the older chips.
Has anyone had similar issues with the newer flash boots? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
