Installation Error: Unable to access /dev/hd0t77
Hi, I found this problem when install QNX nutrino:

After chose run from disk, enter the key, chose disk to partition and boot loader, there is an error:

Mounting filesystems,
Unable to access /dev/hd0t77

then abort installation.

Does any one meet this before? How to solve it?

Thanks

Hello Furui,
Are you installing QNX Neutrino Runtime Kit or QNX Momentics Development Suite? What is the version?
Check whether your hardware is supported by QNX:

Hi, Yuriy,

I am installing "QNX Momentics Development Suite 6.3.2 [x86-only] - Neutrino Host" downloaded from QNX.com.
My computer is a Dell desktop bought last month.
Could you tell me what does this error message mean? How can I solve it?

By the way, what is QNX Neutrino Runtime Kit? What is the difference between these two? Where can I get it?
Thanks very much.

Hello Furui,
QNX Momentics Development Suite contains both operating system (QNX 6 Neutrino) and development tools.
QNX Neutrino Runtime Kit does not contain development tools. You can get this software from your regional sales manager
(please check http://www.qnx.com/company/contact/)

“Unable to access /dev/hd0t77” may indicate that hd0t77 (that is, QNX partition) does not exist on your hard drive. It
is possible the hard drive on your new Dell desktop is not supported by QNX.

You may want to use QNX Momentics Development Suite 6.3.2 - Windows Host and install your development suite in such a
way that it will work under Windows.

Yuriy

Re: Installation Error: Unable to access /dev/hd0t77
Hello Furui,
So you have installed QNX Momentics Development Suite 6.3.2 - Windows Host. The computer on which you have installed
this software is your development host. You develop your programs on this computer but you run them on a different one
– on the target computer. If you do not have a “real” target computer and you want to develop for x86 platform you
may consider using a VMware Workstation. It is essentially a virtual computer that runs on your host. You install QNX 6.
3.2 on this VMware Workstation and so you have both your host and your (virtual) target inside the same box, all running
under Windows. Later you may switch to “real” target.

In order to install QNX on VMware Workstation use QNX Momentics Self Hosted CD. This CD contains x86 runtime. You may
also use QNX Neutrino Runtime Kit, if you have one.

You develop under QNX Momentics Development Suite 6.3.2, transfer your program to VMware Workstation and run it there.

Yuriy

Hi, Yuriy,

Thanks for your patience and kindly help.

I found my problem is quite similar with this thread:

http://community.qnx.com/sf/discussion/do/listPosts/projects.community/discussion.qnx_momentics_getting_started.topc2500

This guy final solved the problem by chose "disable all but DIDE"
My desktop has only usb keyboard and mouse, no PS/2 holes, and I tried press space in installation as said in that
thread and there was no option of "disable all but DIDE".

Also, I tried the option "run from CD", it works good and I am able to see the QNX OS.

Do you have any idea of what is the problem?

Thanks very much.

Re: Installation Error: Unable to access /dev/hd0t77
Hello Furui,
This option (or rater “Disable detection of disk controllers other than EIDE”) is called from “Enumerator Disables”.

I am attaching a snapshot of this situation emulated on my Virtual Machine.

Yuriy

Hi, Yuriy,

I installed a VM workstation in my computer and the installation of the QNX OS works well in the VM.

I do not know if it works to disable the controllers other than EIDE and install QNX. I will try it when I have time and
 report the result here.

I really appreciate all your help.
