QNX boot issue on a DM&P Vortex86SX (486 clone)
I'm trying to boot NTO 6.3.x on one of these little 300MHz X86 parts.
http://www.dmp.com.tw/tech/Vortex86SX/

It loads the image from CD, then hangs after printing the first 'Hit ESC' etc. and about the right # of dots - nothing
ever happens after that.

I've tried SP3, 6.3.2 and the RT CD - all behave the same.
I've also tried booting from a disk - it gets a tiny bit further - prints the 'press Space for options, D to disable DMA
message', but accepts no input, and does no more.

The chip is a 486 and has no FPU - is this something that we'd expect to work ?

I tried Fedora 5's boot disk, and it got a little way before complaining at the lack of FPU and 'Giving Up'.

Thanks

I had this problem before (they say it is related to DMA) on my board,
but it was fixed with 6.3.2. 6.3.0 SP2 worked on it as well.

Hi Elena,

That sounds good, but it certainly doesn't work for me. Were you able to boot the regular boot CDs ?

I have it booting via a disk, and I can use debug callbacks to mae display_msg work, pidin etc, but starting the console
driver or serial driver hangs it, and if I run a shell, I get a prompt but it doesn't notice key presses.

This is with 6.3.2.

Do you have a contact that you were working with that I can discuss this with ? I'm wondering if it is a BIOS or board
rev issue...

Thanks !

Dave

I don't really anything more about it.
You can try to post this in BSP forum:
