instalation problem   
I have an embedded computer from rtd. I am trying to install QNX 6.3.2 on it. I do not have a floppy drive. And I am 
trying to boot cd the cdrom. The bios boots from cd attached is the screen shot of the screen. It boots till 
Trying EIDE. Scanning for devices....

I select D to disable DMA 
then it goes till
Trying EIDE. Scanning for devices....  
...found 2 devices

thats it. Any idea on how to proceed on this issue.

Hi Kiran,

It would help to get some more information. When the message to press the
space bar pops hit space then F6 to enable verbosity. The press enter to
start up. The last half-dozen or so files should help in diagnosing the
issue.

Hi Kiran,

Sorry. I should have been clearer. What I meant to say was:

start up. When the output stops I need to know what the final dozen or so lines on the screen are so I can help in 
diagnosing the problem.

ok got you. Here is what I see on the screen.

Select? F6
Trying to detect SATA ahci
Trying SATA ahci. Scanning for devices...

Trying EIDE. Scanning for devices.....

And I also want to mansion the computer does not have USB port. the hard disk is 5GB and 128Mb RAM. Does any of this has
 to do with the installation problem.

Hi Kiran,

You mentioned there is no USB on that device, right? This may be a case of
an inordinately long time out. How long have you waited? I'm thinking on the
order of 5 minutes or so maximum.

If that's not it can you repeat the verbose exercise but instead of hitting
F6 once, press it three times. This will greatly increase the verbosity so I
should just need the last 5 or 6 lines.

It is also possible the hardware on that board is not well supported in
6.3.2 Is there any way you can try to boot using a later release (say,
6.4.1)? You don't have to install using 6.4.1 but it would be good to know
what happens.

Hi Keith,

I appreciate your support.

First thing, I waited for almost 30 minutes. I dont see any improvement. It still stays at Trying EIDE: 

Second, I entered F6 thrice, I still see the same set of messages.


Third, I will give it a try and see.

The present OS on this system is QNX4, I want to move to QNX6 because QNX4 does not support qcc compiler. But it has 
watcom compiler which I am finding to hard time to compile and debug my code. 
Do you think switching to QNX6 will solve my problem or should I stick to QNX4.

Someone else would have to help with the decision to move forward. It is not
a trivial one. Your support contact should be able to help you determine how
hard the move will be.
