Re: Can't install selfhosted QNX 6.4.1 on PC
Hello, Dave.
Apparently you are right about the reason of my problem. I can't use QNX fdisk because CD-booted QNX doesn't see hard
disk at all. So I used several disk partition tools from Hiren's boot CD. Beneath displayed disk partition layout from
"Paragon
Partition Manager Server Edition ver 7.00.000.1274":
Part# Type File System Size
======================================
0 Primary Ext3FS 200 Mb
1 Primary Invalid 27,7 Gb
Advanced Partition Information:
File system: Invalid
Partition ID (hex): 0x8e (*Linux LVM)
Sectors/Boot: 0
First Sector: 409663 (C:27, H:22, S:38)
Last Sector: 58468414 (C:3866, H:230, S:5)
2 Primary Invalid 5.0 Gb
Advanced Partition Information:
Partition ID (hex): 0xA3 (*0xB3) "QNX file system"
Sectors/Boot: 0
First Sector: 58453920 (C:3866, H:0, S:1)
Last Sector: 68947199 (C:4559, H:239, S:63)
3 Primary NTFS 200 Gb
Advanced Partition Information:
Partition ID (hex): 0x07
Sectors/Boot: 8
First Sector: 68947200 (C:4560, H:0, S:1)
Last Sector: 488391119 (C:32300, H:239, S:63)
Marked with * is "Acronis Disk Editor" output.
Other partiton tools (Partition Magic, The Partition Resizer, ...) straightforwardly report about partition overlapping
and refuse to work.
I solved my problem in simplest way - cleaned all partitons and installed QNX at the beginning of the disk.
P.S. QNX 6.4.1 installer is not the only one that refuses install OS in specified disk location. I for some time
unsuccessfully tried install Fedora 11 Lynux along with other OSes, but Fedora 11 could be installed only on all disk,
not on part of it. This problem was fixed in Fedora 12.
Thank You for assistance.
Oleg Nikolsky.
