Forum Topic - Blank dialog when starting QNX Momentics version 6.4.1 : (8 Items)

Blank dialog when starting QNX Momentics version 6.4.1
I recently ran into this problem. After Workspace Launcher dialog, Momentics is loaded, and ends with a blank small
dialog with a title Qde.

I am using Fedora 11.
Any idea how to fix this problem.

Just adding more information, I got the following error message when run the program from terminal using root

NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus
security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

Do you have "SElinux" enabled? Any firewall rule blocking the IDE?

Fedora 11 was not a supported platform for Momentics 6.4.1 so we didn't test it. The upcoming Momentics 6.4.2 supports
Fedora 11. You can download the experimental version of IDE 4.7 here http://community.qnx.com/sf/frs/do/listReleases/

Re: Blank dialog when starting QNX Momentics version 6.4.1
The problem remains even after I disable firewall and selinux.
BTW, the experiment version qde works fine.

At another website, i saw people have same problem with eclipse, and it can be solved by
http://crossonline.blogspot.com/2009/06/bug-eclipse-starts-with-empty-dialog.html

Not sure if these two are relevant.
Re: Blank dialog when starting QNX Momentics version 6.4.1
Yes, that is relevant. Eclipse requires xulrunner on the Linux
platform, for its internal web browser and also for the "Welcome" screen
that shows when first launching Eclipse on a new workspace. Launching
it on an existing workspace that had already dismissed the Welcome
screen would generally be expected to work.

Cheers,

Christian

Re: Blank dialog when starting QNX Momentics version 6.4.1
That actually explains a scenario I had previously. My qde ran OK with a old workspace, and but got a blank dialog
problem with a new workspace until when I opened qde and eclipse at the same time, and crashed qde. After that the good-
then workspace cannot be open by qde.
Re: Blank dialog when starting QNX Momentics version 6.4.1
I'm new to QNX and have successifuly installed neutrino on Fedora (perhaps the same version as yours) and Momentics on
XP SP2 and have run some of the IPC tutorial with the two. Now I'm trying to run Momentics on another clone Fedora
system and got mixed results.

When first installing I was asked to do it as root/su. So I figured a way to add a user to the Wheel group and was able
to run Momentics as a su (super user) but had problems loading the "Welcome" tutorial screen. Consistenly got a bug
doing that. At this junture I used run_qde.sh to start.

Than I tried to login as a user of the wheel group I tried to run it with the same run_qde.sh and didn't work, so a
friend suggested I searched for another binary and I found qde one directory up from where run_qde.sh is placed, i.e. /
opt/qnx640 This time I got the following bug reported right off the bat:

Did you also get these bugs? I guess I don't have a lot of help to give, but perhaps we have common shorcomings in our
Fedora.
Re: Blank dialog when starting QNX Momentics version 6.4.1
The most common case of this is, in the case of running Momentics on a Linux host, is the ~/.momentics folder being
deleted or damaged, and the default workspace directory (eg: ~/ide-4.7-workspace) still being intact. When Momentics is
launched, the splash screen appears, but does not show the progress bar, and immediately opens a small, blank window
with the title "Qde".

In both cases I've seen, I just backup the following two folders:
~/.momentics
~/ide-4.7-workspace (or whichever folder you use as your default workspace)

Then I move the folders to a temporary location, and re-launch Momentics.

Cheers!
