I'm not sure why it was deprecated. This was tracked under PR57719, but
that PR does not give much of a reason except an informal comment that
it "barely worked". I did see a case a couple of weeks ago where it did
not report all of the shared library memory usage for a process. Pidin
was more accurate in that case.
