trouble installing Neutrino on pc104
Hi,

I'm having problems installing qnx 6.3.2 and/or qnx 6.4.0 using Qnx Neutrino Lite cd-rom on an Eurotech cpu1452 ( pc 104
 with celeron ).
I tried installing it on different IDE disks but the install process aborts always when the copy of system files to disk
 starts.
I also tried making a disk with system image but it seems unable to mount succesfully the disk.
With other OSs (Ubunt for ex.) the "standard" install process ended succesfully.

Any idea of what is the problem and how can I resolve it?

Thanks
RE: trouble installing Neutrino on pc104
Hi Michele,

When you boot the CD you have the option of running from the CD. Does
this work? If it does it would help to get the output of "sloginfo" and
"pci -vv".

You can enable verbosity in the installation by hitting F1 at the start
of the installer. This may help pinpoint the problem.

Also can you post exactly what is on the screen upon failure?

Thanks,
Keith Russell

Re: RE: trouble installing Neutrino on pc104
Hi,

thank you for replying, here is the output of install procedure when it crashes:

>Executing /proc/boot/mkqnx6fs -q -T desktop /dev/hd0t179
>
>Copying files to the new QNX partition. Please wait...
>
>cp: read (/qnxbase/boot/sys/startup-bios): Input/output error
>/proc/boot/cp: failed (405515 256)

I wasn't also able to run Qnx from cd, this is the error message I get:

>could not load library libz.so.2
>Starting extra run commands
>
>/etc/system/sysinit: /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit[59]: -p: cannot execute -No such file or directory

Michele

RE: RE: trouble installing Neutrino on pc104
That sounds like your CD is bad.

Can you verify the cksum of the ISO against the download center? If that
matches you can verify the burn by comparing against the ISO. If I
remember correctly on Linux if you put the CD in the drive then you can
run 'cmp <iso> <drive>'. If it ends with an EOF they match. I may have
the order of the arguments wrong...

RE: trouble installing Neutrino on pc104
'cmp' command ends reaching EOF, notice that I had the same problem also with qnx 6.3.2 on this pc104, maybe some
hardware incompatibilities?

Thanks,
Michele
RE: trouble installing Neutrino on pc104
Hi,

It is possible you are having trouble with DMA. When the system starts
you can try disabling it by hitting 'D' at the start of the boot when
the message instructs you to hit space or D.

Re: RE: trouble installing Neutrino on pc104
I've tried this option but install process ends again with "Partition installation aborted!" message. I've got the same
result trying the F10 option (forced mount or something like this..). I'm starting to think that there are some problems
between devb-eide and Intel 815E chipset, maybe?

Thanks
Michele

I've pinged the hardware folks to see if they know of any issues.
