RE: Intel 82566 Network Controller
You should run the Net.e1000 driver for this chipset. You don't need any
command line parameters, just run:
Net &
Net.e1000 &

Hi Hugh

I have loaded the driver provided, it loads without any errors but after about 5 seconds it reboots the pc.
RE: Intel 82566 Network Controller
I have no idea why your machine is rebooting. Please can you supply the
output from 'sin' and 'sin ver'?

Thanks.

You are running a very old version of QNX4. Is it possible for you to
upgrade to the latest?

Re: RE: RE: Intel 82566 Network Controller
This will be difficult. This is currently run as a point of sale server. We have had a hardware change ( new
motherboard) that has brought about this dilemma. Also if we upgarde to the latest version i am not sure what impact
this will have on the code that we run. I am not responsible for the code we have an out source partner and due to time
constraints for new store rollouts i do not really have time to put in a pilot site.

I have an option of using a "realtek 8139d" chipset nic. Could you forward me the latest drivers for this card.
RE: RE: RE: Intel 82566 Network Controller
You could always just do a test with the latest version of QNX4 to see
whether the problem lies with the version of QNX4 or the driver. If the
problem is with the driver, then if you could send us a board, we could
take a look at it.

I have attached the latest Net.rtl driver.

i have downloaded this patch but much to my frustration i can not extract this info. I do not have photon. Is there
another utility that i could use.
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Intel 82566 Network Controller
I think that you need to have the installation CD to install the patch.

RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Intel 82566 Network Controller
I think that the problem lies in the fact that I am compiling with the
latest version of QNX and you are running an older version. The nettrap
utility uses the same logic to locate the adapter as the driver, so I
guess that is why you are having problems with both drivers.

Are you running QNX 4.24?

I'm not sure what is going on with your machine! I have just loaded
QNX4.24 on a machine and run the driver without any problem.

Hugh.

Hi Hugh

We are running 4.24. The version that you have installed does that include 4.25 patch G.
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Intel 82566 Network Controller
No, I just did a plain 4.24 install without any patches.

Hugh.

Re: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Intel 82566 Network Controller
Hi Hugh

I beleive that the problem lies with the new motherboard. Because i have put the realtek card in my previous server and
it loads fine.

If we need to send you a motherboard. What is the process that needs to be followed. Also are there any costs involved
in this certification exercise.
