Vortex86SX
Hi:
I need a replacement PC104 board for a QNX 4 system and I found a VSX104 board by Tri-M Systems.
http://www.tri-m.com/products/engineering/vsx104.html
It has the serial ports and low power that I need, but all I can find out about it is "fully 486 compatible" and "
fully signalled external RS232 ports". Has anyone used the Vortex86SX processor? Are there any problems?

I am not ready to go to QNX 6 right now, and I don't need the network or usb features, but this board looks like
something I could also use in later projects.
RE: Vortex86SX
Never used it but from the specs it looks ok. I'm surprise it used DDR2 memory !!!

I never heard of this network controller, the r6040, don't think QNX supports is, but on the site the source of the
linux driver is present. That means with a little of elbow grease it should be possible to write a QNX6 driver. USB is
very likely to work, even with QNX4.

Thanks.

It seems as if it is worth a try.
RE: RE: Vortex86SX
The think to watch for as that low cost processor ( Geode comes to mind ) could emulated certain feature through the
BIOS and this kills real-time big time. But I didn`t see anything in the spec that suggest that!

John,

Did you end up trying this CPU with QNX4 ? If so, did you get the ethernet up and running ? I use this same chip, but
haven't used it with QNX4 yet, but I would like to.

Thanks,
A
