If a USB flash device is inadvertently disconnected before following the unmounting sequence as shown in the tech docs, 
 it seems impossible to recover from this event.  Attempts to cleanup the mess results in either "resource busy messages
" or the console locks up.
Can anyone offer suggestions on how to resolve this situation w/o having to reboot the system?
