PS/2 mouse issues
Hi,

I am evaluating a HP 8300 Elite CMT workstation for use with our QNX 4.25 / QNX Windows 4.21B application and have
found a problem with the PS/2 mouse: the mouse pointer moves around erratically and button clicks are registered
randomly just by moving the mouse. The same behavior is observed both on text mode (VEDIT for example) and in QNX
Windows. I have tried both the 1998 Mouse driver and the newer Mouse / Input combination driver, with same results.
Booting the same computer with a Knoppix Live CD gives a working PS/2 mouse, so it's not just a hardware issue.

Has anyone experienced issues like this with QNX 4.25 on new Intel mainboards? And what can I do to further
troubleshoot this issue?

Best Regards,
  Christian Friberg
Re: PS/2 mouse issues
Hello,

it's been many years since I last tried to make a mouse work in QNX4.25.

But as far as I remember I used to do this:

-check if IRQ12 is not shared
- run Mouse/Input in very verbose mode (like five -v) and try to capture type of mouse it detects (PNPsomething)
- then try to add this string to /etc/pnpmouse (or something similar)
- if it's there, try to change given mouse type to some other
- for test if it works fine use Mouse test

Hope it helps,

PKY
