Install QNX4 without cdrom
Is it possible to install QNX4 without cdrom?
Re: Install QNX4 without cdrom
Hi,

Yes it is possible to install QNX4 without cdrom but for this purpose
you have to boot from an alternative device with QNX4 e.g. usb flash,
floppy and after that, prepare partition by fdisk and dinit utilities,
manually copy required files, write loader by fdisk utility.
I think the easiest way is to install QNX4 with required components from
the Product Suite CD to a USB flash device on another system with a
CD-ROM. Then boot a target system form this USB flash and perform
described above steps.
Don't forget to prepare a new boot image (.boot, .altboot) for your
target system and modify /etc/config/sysinit.$NODE.
For more information see QNX4 help section "Installation & Configuration".

Another way is to connect target's data storage device (e.g HDD, CF
card) to a PC with installed QNX and manually prepare partition and copy
QNX files.

Pavel

Re: Install QNX4 without cdrom
Thanks Pavel. One more question, will i be able to boot other OS installed on the same hard disk i am installing qnx with
this method?I have linux and haiku via grub2.
Re: Install QNX4 without cdrom
Hi,

I can't say for grub2 but grub loads QNX without problems. If you have a
grub2 in MBR you can configure it to load QNX. Also keep in mind that
QNX should be installed in the primary partition.

As for the QNX partition loader it can't load Linux directly. But you
can install QNX partition Loader in MBR and grub/grub2 in Linux root
partition (should be primary).

Pavel
