Forum Topic - QNX 6.4.1 serial file transfer with QCP or Zmodem tools?: (3 Items)

QNX 6.4.1 serial file transfer with QCP or Zmodem tools?
I am working on a project that requires sending files over a serial link to/from a PC from/to a device running QNX
Neutrino 6.4.1. The serial link is a requirement because it is passing through a Blutooth SPP bridge.

The zmodem protocol would be my preferred method but these tools appear to have been "depreciated" as of 6.4.0.

Instead there is a program called QCP which appears to work in a similar way. The only problem is that I can't find any
tools for non-Neutrino OSes that will let me actually send or receive files using QCP. I am primarily using windows.
Does such a program exist or is QCP only usefull between devices running Neutrino.

Also, is there a good way to get the "depreciated" zmodem tools back and just use them. That way my users could use
Hyper Terminal and wouldn't need a special (possibly nonexistent) QCP compatible program for the transfer.

I feel like I must be missing some information because no one else seems to be mentioning this oversight. Or does no
one ever use serial for file transfers anymore.

As a side note, qtalk still lets you try to use zmodem tools but fails because they are not available.

Thanks,
      Scott

You probably can get Kermit for this. I haven't tried it for Neutrino, but it worked fine under 4.25. Unfortunately,
it's not free for Windows, but I don't think it's very expensive.

The source code for this has been moved to the bazaar site on the foundry:

http://community.qnx.com/integration/viewvc/viewvc.cgi/trunk/l/lrzsz/?root=bazaar&system=exsy1001

You should be able to access/build it from there for your target.

Hope this helps,

Peter
