Intel motherboard problems
We've been trying to get the Neutrino 6.3.2 runtime to run on an Intel DG43NB motherboard, to no avail. We're loading
QNX 6.3.2 from CD-ROM onto a SATA hard drive. The install appears to go normally, but when it's done the reboot hangs
at the Intel splash screen. Pressing F2 to enter the BIOS doesn't work, either, unless I disconnect the SATA hard drive
.

The thing works just fine with a Windows hard drive. It's almost as if the BIOS is looking for some kind of signature on
the hard drive that is specific to Windows, and fails when it finds whatever QNX places in the same location.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check if there is a virus detection thingy in the BIOS, if so turn it off;-).

Re: RE: Intel motherboard problems
Good idea! Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a virus detection option in this BIOS. When we boot into the
maintenance screen there are a number of options that are in the Intel generic BIOS documentation that don't seem to be
present with this motherboard. Furthermore, if the option was active, it would have printed some sort of message on the
boot screen. Instead, the screen just freezes with no error messages.

It sort of reminded me of QNX 4.25, where there was an old and a new bootloader. On some systems the new bootloader
would not work, but the boot loader install program had an option to install the old loader, which usually fixed the
problem. I'm wondering if this is a similar issue.

I may try using the Linux bootloader, and see if that gets me past this problem.

Re: RE: Intel motherboard problems
Eh, the machine won't even boot from the CD if the Neutrino hard drive is connected. Plus, a 4.25 hard drive boots just
fine.
Re: RE: Intel motherboard problems
I switched the drive mode to AHCI, and installed Neutrino into a 150gb partition; before I was using the entire disk,
which was about 235gb. I did this on an older motherboard, and then moved the hard drive to the new one. It booted just
fine. I then used the new board to install Neutrino on the same drive using the same mode, and it now works.

So, I guess it's got something to do with both the drive mode and the partition size, but what that relation is is a
mystery to me. I think we'll have to try a different motherboard.
Re: RE: Intel motherboard problems
More info: I found that, if I make the QNX boot partition small, say, 1gb, then it will boot just fine. However, I then
tried adding a second QNX partition that has the rest of the disk, something like 230gb, then it will again refuse to
boot. So, something about a large QNX partition is hosing the boot process
