Portal Usage Guide#

This guide provides a high level description about how to use the portal.

Accessing the portal#



Accessing a project's source code as an anonymous user#

Not every project includes a source code repository. As well, anonymous access is only available through the Web interface; access through a Subversion client program requires Community membership.

To access the source code as an anonymous user:

  1. Using the Navigation Bar, from the "Projects" menu, select a project to browse to that project's home page.
  2. Click the "Source Code" link below the Navigation Bar.
  3. Select the repository you want to browse by clicking on the radio button to the left of the repository name.
  4. Click the "View Commits" button to the right.
  5. Click "Browse Repository" at the bottom right of the "Repository Details" area.
  6. Navigate through the repository by clicking on the folders and files listed under the "File" column.

Accessing a project's source code through a Subversion client program#

Not every project includes a source code repository. In addition, access through a Subversion client program requires Community membership.

To access the source code though a Subversion client program:

  1. Using the Navigation Bar, from the "Projects" menu, select a project to browse to that project's home page.
  2. Click the "Source Code" link below the Navigation Bar.
  3. Locate the repository that you want access to, and review the text that displays under the "Checkout Command" field. This checkout command indicates the command line text that you require in order to gain access to the repository. Use your myQNX account password to access this repository.

Accessing the build for a project#

Every project is free to determine the time interval between its builds, as well as the quality criteria used to declare a good build.

To access the builds for a project:

  1. Using the Navigation Bar, from the "Projects" menu, select a project to browse to that project's home page.
  2. Click the "File Releases" link below the Navigation Bar.
  3. Select the package that best describes the software whose build you are interested in downloading.
  4. Select the release of the package to download by clicking the radio button to the left of the release name.
  5. Click "Download Selected" to begin the download process.
  6. Follow the installation instructions included as part of the downloaded archive, or available from the host project's Wiki.

Accessing a project's user documentation#

  1. Using the Navigation Bar, from the "Projects" menu, select a project to browse to that project's home page.
  2. Click the "Documents" link below the Navigation Bar.
  3. Select the folder containing the document you are interested in viewing.
  4. Select the document name.
  5. Select the document name on the updated page.

Accessing a project's developer resources#

  1. Using the Navigation Bar, from the "Projects" menu, select a project to browse to that project's home page.
  2. Click the "Wiki" link below the Navigation Bar.

To become a Community member, you must set up a myQNX account:

Obtaining a copy of QNX Momentics#

  1. Browse to http://www.qnx.com/products/evaluation/.
  2. If looking for a non-evaluation license, choose a license that matches your usage intent from the Other license keys box on the right
  3. Follow the instructions.

Managing your profile and password#

  1. If you are not currently logged in, do so now.
  2. Using the Navigation Bar, select "My Workspace", then select "My Settings" on the toolbar.
  3. Under the myQNX area to the right, select "Edit Profile" or "Change Password".

Login into the foundry#

Subscribing to a forum#

You can receive an e-mail notification whenever a message is posted to a forum. Replying to the message using your e-mail client will reply directly to the forum. To subscribe to one or more forums:
  1. Using the Navigation Bar, from the "Projects" menu, select a project to browse to that project's home page.
  2. Click the "Forums" link below the Navigation Bar.
  3. Select the forum(s) that you want to subscribe to by clicking the button to the left of each forum's name.
  4. Click the "Monitor" button at the bottom.

Searching information on the foundry#

You can search for specific keywords in forums, documents, project downloads, news, wiki, source code and other collaboration features of Foundry27 by selecting the 'Foundry27' menu item from the "Search" menu in the Navigation Bar. The search can be global or limited to specific projects.

Becoming a member of a project#

Every project has its own set of rules governing how new members are allowed in to the project, as well as the roles and responsibilities associated with this status.
  1. Using the Navigation Bar, either select "Projects" or select "All Projects"
  2. Select the project that you want to become of a member of by clicking the button to the left of each project's name.
  3. To the bottom right of the page, click "Request Membership".
  4. Provide information indicating why you want to join in the request field, and then click "Submit".

Contributing to a project's Wiki#

Projects are free to set their own permissions related to the read/write access for their resources. However, in general, projects limit their Wiki contributions to project members only. Consult the project's home page and forum.

Contributing binaries to the foundry#

Binaries can be contributed outside the scope of a project within the Bazaar project. For information about how to contribute to its directory, please consult the Bazaar project home page directory.

Providing feedback about a project#

Use the forums. You must have a myQNX account before you can post messages.
  1. Browse to the project home page using the Navigation Bar.
  2. Click "Discussions".
  3. Pick a forum whose description matches your desired topic.
  4. Select the forum name.
  5. Click the "Create" button.
