OS Status Meeting Minutes

November 12, 2007

Steve Bergwerff

  • Small group today.
    • Shiv is back in San Jose.
    • Peter is working from home.
    • Doug, Gordon, and Brian are all off today. Without Brian, there is NO CAKE. :(
    • Colin is back from Germany.
  • Important Trinity 2 dates to be aware of:
    • M2 test results review is today. (Chris is busy prepping for this so not attending this meeting.)
    • M3 build is November 14.
  • M3 is being built with gcc 2.95.3 but Sada is setting up a tinderbox machine to compile Trinity 2 with gcc 4.2.1 and run regressions to catch any potential issues with the compiler.

Mosa Yeung

  • Working on benchmarking of interrupt latency on Trinity 2. Reviewed results with Robert Craig. He added some changes to the tests so currently working through those.
  • Also correcting lint warnings/errors. Attilla took a look at the results and there was an actual error in the AP code that was caught by lint so concluded that the list is legitimate. Will provide other developers with info on running the tool so code can be checked prior to commit.

Mike Kisel

  • Will have Memory Partitioning utilities checked in prior to Wednesday’s build so anyone on F27 can use it. API will not be completed in time. Waiting on feedback and results of code review first.
  • Working on issues for Memory Partitioning on SMP. Uniprocessor looks good.
  • This week will continue working on Memory Partitioning and resolving issues.

Shiv Nagarajan

  • Covered for Colin last week. Working with a customer that is doing early integration with Trinity 2.
  • Most of last week spent working on 3 customer reported issues for Trinity 2.
    • Pidin failure. (PR 52308) Brian sent a fix.
    • Kernel crash. (PR 51824). This was occurring because a patch Colin had provided was not correctly applied.
    • SMP kernel crash (PR 52755). Brian has a fix for this that he is testing.
  • Looking at a Posix failure PR for Trinity 2. Will send a fix today for code review and have it committed prior to M3 build. (PR 45384)
Marian Kos
  • Continued work on cleaning up of test cases for Memory Partitioning in Trinity 2. Need to modify expect/tcl scripts for the automation in order to get more intelligent reboots, etc.

Linda Deng

  • Working on file system test plan for 6.4.
  • Ran file system tests on Trinity 2 M2, went thru results, and created a report card.
  • Working with Sunil on completing POSIX certification applications. There were three POSIX failures, the two with Sunil are now resolved. The last failure is being investigated by Shiv.
  • Working on Variable page size performance tests.

Angelina Gomes

  • Last week was spent working on Memory Partitioning documentation. Received some feedback from Attilla. Decided to split the book into separate sections. Also updating the utility reference guide.
  • Finished the ARMv6 tech notes.
  • Finished the Dinkum doc updates.

Attilla Danko

  • Did some more research on redesign options for async messaging post Trinity 2. Had some discussions with Seb on it. Came up with a long term design idea using non-blocking queues that looks very viable.
  • Spent some time on code inspections for various PR fixes.
  • Spent a lot of time last week in meetings regarding process certifications.

Colin Burgess

  • In Germany last week helping with some critical customer timelines.
  • Will be working on completing some Trinity 2 regression tests and some regression fixes.
  • Will be working on the prep for a special customer drop of Trinity 2 that’s needed for next week.
