QNX6.4.1 VMWare Workstation 6.5.2

Periodically, writes to disk in QNX take an inordinately long time (more than a minute). I am guessing this would be 
prevented by having the disk preallocated.

Any thoughts or anecdotes?

I would surely help but minutes, that seems like a long time, sounds fishy to me.

Make sure you are not running low on host memory - if the host has to swap
to support your disk write you get the double effect of the host hitting the
disk at the same time the guest os is hitting the virtual disk.
