hello:

has anyone attempted to build GDB-Insight for the QNX platform? i did. it builds and starts okay but i cannot connect to
 it using `target remote <ip>:<port>. i keep getting Malformed Response error messages.

also, Insight wont accept target qnx <ip>:<port>.

Insight was built on Cygwin and openSUSE using:
./configure --target=powerpc-unknown-nto-qnx6.4.0 --prefix=/opt/insight-ppc

why am i doing this when i have the wonderful QDE IDE? because QDE uses the bloated & overly complicated Eclipse whereas
 Insight is simple and much better to use than command line GDB.

i have used Insight from GNUARM (http://www.gnuarm.com/) on ARM via JTAG and its very simple to use. source code editing
 is a fabulous snap. Eclipse is so complicated and bloated and large and slow. i am not fond of Eclipse, especially when
 they first released Android's development environment using Eclipse.

anyway, its not that important. Insight is a very good source code debugger and i would love to use it with TARGET QNX.

any plans for Insight from QNX?

Aleksandar would know better but my guess is that you'll probably need
to backport the QNX GDB changes to get it to work.  Try generating a
patch between stock 6.8 and QNX 6.8 and applying it to the insight
source tree; there will undoubtedly be grief but it might move you in
the right direction.  Much of the magic is in nto-tdep.c, but there are
various other bits and pieces too.  (We do contribute back all of our
changes, but most are never integrated back into the FSF mainline.)

thank you for your response.

i understand what you said. unfortunately, we are very hard pressed for time here and i am not able to try it out. i was
 consoled by gdb since Linux was the best platform to build and test. most of us use ntoppc-gdb from Linux and one uses 
the Eclipse-based Momentics on Windows.

i prefer Insight because its lightweight, touch a little flaky. its great.

btw, the SDP is quite advanced.
