What's up with the *.cc extension?

So, my fellow teammates and I were discussing things today, and we got onto the topic of *.cpp files vs *.cc files in 
our QNX projects. Is there any reason that new QNX projects create main.cc instead of main.cpp? I know, they're 
completely interchangeable, but I've always thought that the .cpp extension was more in an industry standard...

Just a curiosity, that's all...
