I'm being provided BSP by board vendor and I find almost all the files with tarx extension.

I learn that the tarx is a variant of tar; But I 'm not able to extract the files from it using tar. How can I extract 
files with extension tarx?

AFAIK tarx is QNX proprietary you cannot extrct it with out some key .

Okay. And If I get the key what is the utility that I have to use to extract the contents?

As far as I remember , there have been BSPs as bspname.exe or bspname.sh,
so 
./bspname.sh
enter key
follow instructions
...
...
...
and then import into IDE.
