Install onto machine without a floppy drive.
I am trying to install QNX via the install CD onto a system that does not have a floppy drive. I have the old style
licenses on a floppy disk, and I am running into a problem when the installation procedure asks me for a license number
or to insert a disk. Is there a way around this problem?
RE: Install onto machine without a floppy drive.
Not really, you have to contact QNX to try to have you license disk converted to a license number.

Re: RE: Install onto machine without a floppy drive.
I do this all the time. Fortunately I has several other machines running QNX4 so I can get the licenses from that. all
I do is cat .licenses and write down the numbers then type in one license for each group ie 1 qnx license 1 tcpip
license etc.

Once I get the new machine booting than I can copy the licenses from the network or from a CD I made with the licenses
installed.

hope it helps.

Re: RE: Install onto machine without a floppy drive.
Another option but more complicated is to create custom QNX4 Installation CD with "USB support" and to use USB floppy
drive.

I mean to place USB stack & drivers on data medium.

After QNX4 Installer start you have to run (from Shell Window) all necessary components, like io-usb and Fsys.umass.

As a rule Fsys.umass detects USB floppy as /dev/fd0, so you can continue installation process with old style licenses as
 usual.
