Hi all,
A while ago people at this forum were kind enough to provide me with a fontaa utility which could be used to switch 
antialiasing on/off in 6.3.2 (infact even in 6.4.0 alpha as far as i can remember).

Now I am confused with how to make photon start with antialiased on ?. Looks like the phfont is missing in 6.4.0 ( I may
 well be wrong)

It is there ;-)
Add this:

[io-font]
-A

to the /usr/photon/font_repository/fontopts

I actually tried that but didn't reboot so thought it didn't worked
