What is a snapshot in Lab Management?

A snapshot represents the state of a virtual machine at the time it was taken. It includes the files of the virtual machine's guest operating system, and the settings and configuration of the virtual machine and its virtual hardware.

Introduced in Lab Management 2.6, the snapshot feature is available only for ESXi guest nodes. Snapshots are displayed in the Snapshots Tree View where you can create or delete snapshots, view details and switch a machine to a different snapshot.

Here's what you can do with snapshots:
Operation Description
Create The current state of the virtual machine and its guest operating system are captured.
Delete The current snapshot is removed and the state of the virtual machine is changed to the parent snapshot.
Delete with children This operation is similar to the delete operation except that children of the current snapshot are removed as well.
Go to The state of the virtual machine and its current guest operating system are switched to the snapshot you select.
Note: This operation reboots the machine.
