OS Status Meeting Minutes

January 21, 2008

Steve Bergwerff

• Important Trinity 2 dates to be aware of:
  • M5 build was delayed due to some issue building with gcc 4.2.1. The build is complete now and Chris is in the process of building the test cases.

Brian Stecher

• Resolve high priority Trinity2 PR 54559 for an SMP mapping issue. Ran a regression over the weekend. Looking at the results.
• Provided explanation to customer for Trinity2 PR 53972 applications crashing with SIGBUS. It’s a build issue at the customer end. Provided a suggestion but still not working of them so will continue working on it this week with them.
• This week also plan to go through code inspections for locking on Memory Partitioning.

Mike Kisel

• Have two outstanding code inspections out for review on Memory Partitioning.
• Waiting on review from Brian and Attilla on potential locking issues with Memory Partitioning.
• Sent some documentation content to Angelina for the tracing.
• Generally working on solidifying Memory Partitioning for Trinity2.

Attilla Danko

• Helping out on Memory Partitioning with code reviews and solutions for SMP mutual exclusion.
• Working on Trinity 2 PR 52847 for issues with one of the ppc boards.
• Responding to questions regarding process certifications.

Colin Burgess

• Working on tiger team for getting a full head branch using the gcc 4.2.1 compiler. Last week was focussed on getting a 4.2.1 build of Trinity 2 M5. Most of time spent on mips. Not completely clean yet but close. There were some issues with shared libs. There are also some outstanding issues with SH. May need to bump the library version up.
• Working on merge of Trinity2 branches needed for a customer to continue testing. Looking ok for completion this week.

Scott Miller

• Not in attendance today.

Doug Bailey

• Fixed Trinity 2 PR 54161 and 52925 to get them in for the M5 build.
• Still working on Trinity2 PR 53696 and PR 52939 to fix two test case failures. Difficult to reproduce.
• Working on some experimental code for SH SMP. The issue being worked on may be a test case problem. Will continue on it this week.

Shiv Nagarajan

• Made a change in malloc code to allow it to compile with gcc 421 for Trinity 2 M5.
• Working on three customer reported issues for Trinity 2.
  • PR 53749 for a select() issue with telnet. Resolved. Problem was in customer code.
  • PR 54902 for a memory depletion issue. Have built a debug procnto to track calls to map and unmap memory and for total free memory.
  • PR 54903 for a reported crash seen under low memory conditions.

David Joo

• Last week was on a training course.
• This week will be working on getting code coverage numbers from current test suite.

Peter Mitsis

• Last week fixed Trinity 2 PR 54456 for a problem mounting a flash device. Problem was a loop in a linked list in procmgr.
• Looking at PR 53171 for an issue with ln. Emailed John G to see if he has any ideas about it.
• Met with Sonja last week regarding plans to post file system code on F27. Next need to talk to Kevin Chiles.

Angelina Gomes

• Currently working on OS and IDE documentation.
• Colin identified some additional items to document for Trinity2.
• Received email from Mike on AP events so will create documentation for that.
