6.5.0 + SP1 + Ubuntu 10.4 32-bit: mkifs link broken
I have just installed 6.5.0 and SP1 on up to date Ubuntu 10.4 LTS 32-bit. Everything installed absolutely fine, Install
Shield setups completed with not errors whatsoever.

Now the problem is something is not quite right with the "mkifs" tool. Apparently all the mk* symbolic links:

/opt/qnx650/host/linux/x86/usr/bin/mkifs
/opt/qnx650/host/linux/x86/usr/bin/mkefs
/opt/qnx650/host/linux/x86/usr/bin/mketfs

point to a non-existent tool "mkxfs" and hence are broken. I could not find "mkxfs" anywhere on my system. Just tried
to reinstall everything again for the second time and still couldn't find "mkxfs" anywhere on my file system.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks.

Oleg,

It sounds like you did not use "sudo -E ./<sp1-installer>" to install 650SP1.

You would have to uninstall SP1 which will delete 650 installation as well. Use the cleanup utility if needed: http://
myqnx.com/download/group.html?programid=21055

Then re-install 6.5.0 and then SP1. Make sure to use "sudo -E " option to preserve the environment when installing SP1.

The installation notes mention the -E option, but maybe it should be more prominent. I'll see what I can do to emphasize
 it.

Hi Steve,

I've already had to answer this question several times. It seems that
nobody reads the installation notes these days.

Re: RE: 6.5.0 + SP1 + Ubuntu 10.4 32-bit: mkifs link broken
Natalia, Steve,

thanks you for your help. The problem is definitely not to do with" sudo -E" as I used that option. It turns out
something went wrong when installing SP1 on top of 6.5.0.

I did more research on this and it looks like 5.6.0 installs correctly. All files and tools are in place, I can
successfully build and make OS image.

Then after installing SP1 I'm getting those broken links mkifs etc links in /opt/qnx650/host/linux/x86/usr/bin/. And the
other thing I noticed is that files from /opt/qnx650/target/qnx6/armle-v7/boot/sys/* get wiped out too.

But the most interesting thing is the 4th cycle of full reinstall worked fine. Everything finally seems in tact, can
build and make images. I can't explain that though ... I used the suggested SP1 cleanup tool QNXLinuxCleanup every time
to tidy up.

One of the developers here has run into the same problem, even though he used -E. One of the testers is going to look at
the virtual machine to try to figure out what happened.
