Net.rtl8169 and Video lockup
Group:
I have a Dell T20 with an rtl8169 network card I am running qnx4.25 on the system work fine but if the video cable is
pulled out it locks up the server. I have been able to track the lock up to the starting of the Network driver Net.
rtl8169. Before the network driver is started you can unplug and plug in the video but after you start the driver the
server will lock once unplugged.

Hi Michael,
Do you launch Photon graphics? What graphics driver do you use? Please send me output of following commands:
show_pci -vvv
sin irq
sin arg
sin ver
Respectfully,
Oleg

RE: Net.rtl8169 and Video lockup
The video will lock up in either environment, in the council environment before starting Photon and in Photon as well.
I have tried both the Pg.flatdc and Pg.flated32.

Re: Net.rtl8169 and Video lockup
If you are running in text mode, does the lockup still occur, or only when
running Photon? Does the lockup only occur while starting the driver or
does the lockup remain once the network driver is running?

RE: Net.rtl8169 and Video lockup
Hugh:
1. If you are running in text mode, does the lockup still occur, or only when running Photon?
Yes it occurs in either mode.
2. Does the lockup only occur while starting the driver or does the lockup remain once the network driver is running?
Once you start Net.rtl8169, if the video cable is unplugged the server will lock up, before this diver is started the
video will not lock up if you pull the video cable.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Net.rtl8169 and Video lockup
Mike,
The only thing that I see that is common between the Ethernet controller
and the video controller, is the IRQ 11. Is there a setting in the BIOS of
your machine where you can change the IRQ of either the video controller
or the Ethernet controller so that they are not on the same IRQ?
Thanks, Hugh.
