2009 Installation CD Install
Hiya,

I'm having an issue running the install CD on a supermicro 5015b_MT hardware.
The Installation window 'disappears' i.e. it seems to stop when autodetecting hardware. It doesn't crash, but
doesn't seem to do anything either
Running in diognostic mode, this occurs when I leave the PCI Bios checked. It also stops on some of the NIC drivers.

Please advise as to how to diagnose this problem.
Thanks,
-kev
Re: 2009 Installation CD Install
Hi Kevin,

1. Try to disable as much as possible in the BIOS setup (NIC, sound, RAID,
SATA enhanced mode, legacy emulated devices etc).

2. Try to unselect all checkboxes from the "Select Hardware to Auto-
detect" QNX Installer screen. Then add disk controller on the next screen.

Hiya Olig,

Thanks for helping me look into this.
I don't suppose you know some default i/o port and IRQ values
for the HDD would be, do you?

Thanks,
-Kev

RE: 2009 Installation CD Install
Hi Kevin,

Please launch the driver without arguments. If it doesn't help then try to
use default i/o port 0x1F0 + IRQ 14 (for first channel) and i/o port 0x170
+ IRQ 15 (for second channel). I use next command to start Fsys.atapi on
the problematic PC (in one line):

# Fsys.atapi atapi ioport=0x1F0,irq=14,chnl=0 atapi
ioport=0x170,irq=15,chnl=1

See Fsys.atapi usage for more details.

Some ATAPI controllers don't support legacy i/o ports and IRQs, so you can
create bootable floppy with show_pci and other needed programs to
experiment with your hardware.

Re: RE: 2009 Installation CD Install
To no avail unfortunately. It does not seem to see the disk (Sata1 - 320GB). Have disabled anything I could find
related to the hard drive.
The install works fine on supermicro 5013s, but doesn't seem to like something on the 5015 (I thought I saw ICH9R on one
 of the supported harware lists)
Or do you think I am off on that?
Re: RE: 2009 Installation CD Install
Hi Kevin,

Send me show_pci -vvv (or similar) output from 5015.

Re: RE: 2009 Installation CD Install
I cannot find the utility. I'm assuming it is on the CD, but asides from booting to it, the install can't find the the
CD drive either (It's running on the IDE cable and the EIDE disk controller cannot find it).
When I run the shell window and go to the root, I have the dev,ram and tmp (empty) directories. The CD I am using was
shipped to me from QNX.
I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong here ...
Re: RE: 2009 Installation CD Install
Hi Kevin,

You have to prepare bootable floppy with show_pci and other utilities. If
it's not suitable for you then contact your QNX support. In any case it
seems that we need your hardware for test and development purposes.

Re: RE: 2009 Installation CD Install
Thanks for your assistance Oleg.
I don't suppose you know of a more modern 1u rackmount system that the QNX4 OS supports, do you?
Re: RE: 2009 Installation CD Install
Kevin,

I don't know... But I recommend to test hardware before buying.
