Hello:
I am a software project leader at ABB and we have a system that runs under QNX4.25G. We are looking at releasing a new
version of our process control view (PCV) product and we are wondering if it is too late to be a Beta site for the
update. If not we would be interested in being a Beta site. If it is too late would it be possible to get an advanced
copy for testing with our application. We are also interested in knowing what updated drivers are included on the new CD
.
- Thanks,
Kevin Warkentin

The updated drivers that are to be included in the release are posted at
http://community.qnx.com/sf/wiki/do/viewPage/projects.qnx4/wiki/SoftwareUpdates
We encourage you to download the iso image and look forward to receiving your feedback,

Yes, we are posting an iso image that can be downloaded and burnt onto a
CD. The actual released CD will be available early November.

Re: RE: QNX RTOS 2009 Update
Hi Leo:
We have had very good success with the experimental CD.
We are using an HPZ400 computer and using an Adaptec 2940AU SCSI card along with an Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter.
Is the release of this new QNX CD still slated for early November. Is there a definite November date ?
- Thanks,
Kevin

RE: RE: QNX RTOS 2009 Update
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad the experimental CD is working out
for your system.
Yes, we are looking at releasing the 2009 Update in November ... I'm
unsure of the exact date as it is contingent on resolving a few
remaining issues and completing final verification.
Cheers,
Leo

Re: RE: RE: QNX RTOS 2009 Update
Hi Leo:
Just wondered if there was now a definite November release date for the 2009 QNX4 Update.
We are looking at trying to release an update of our process control view software which currently uses QNX4.25G (
product suite 1999 ).
If the impending release is next week say then we could plan to use this new release. If it will be in the latter part
of the month then we will have to use the
newer ( product suite 2003 release).
Please let me know as soon as possible because we have to make this decision within the next week.
-Thanks,
Kevin

RE: RE: RE: QNX RTOS 2009 Update
Hi Kevin,
Next week is going to be very tight. There is a small chance the image will be available for download at the end of
next week. Most likely, the image will be available sometimes in the following week. So optimistically, the image would
be available November 13th, 2009. More realistically, we are looking at November 20th.

Léo

Hi Kevin,
The eide driver support drives over the 137GB limit via 48 bit LBA
commands. The remaining filesystem/drivers support a 32 bit LBA.

Re: RE: RE: RE: RE: QNX RTOS 2009 Update
Hi Leo:
Just a quick question on how to refer to the 2009 Update.
Is the official name for the latest update
QNX4 Product Suite 2009
In the past it was always a letter indicator ( i.e.QNX 4.25G)
Thanks,
Kevin

RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: QNX RTOS 2009 Update
Hi Kevin,
The naming approach actually changed last year when we put out a QNX
Product Suite 2008 update. We were trying to stay consistent with that
approach.
The versioning associated with the various binaries should stay
consistent to the letter approach indicated.
The reason for the change is that we are no longer doing full releases
and only specific binaries will be updated as required. Thus, you should
not see a full 4.25H release but may see specific binaries with a 4.25H
version associated with it.
Hope this helps,
Leo
