I just noticed in the lastest Alpha that though phgraphx it's possible to specify starting with Photon or not ( in the Global option ). I would be nice if phlip offers the same thing with QNET, then no need to manually create the useqnet file.
Hi Mario: Funnily enough, we already have a PR for that (PR37486). "Prominently visible QNET on/off option in Photon (maybe phlip)" It's set for "future" but has the following comment in it. I have doubts about whether or not this is going to be easily implementable. The "on" side is straight forward (mount qnet and touch etc/system/config/useqnet so that a reboot will automatically do the mount). The off side is the problem. You can't unmount a protocol, so you'd have to kill and re-start the stack which means re-starting drivers which means re-running the enumerators. You also wouldn't catch any custom drivers that the user had loaded in themselves. I can't think of a "nice" way do this which is going to be consistent at this point Robert. -----Original Message----- From: Mario Charest [mailto:community-noreply@qnx.com] Sent: Wednesday, September 10, 2008 1:54 PM To: technology-networking Subject: phlip I just noticed in the lastest Alpha that though phgraphx it's possible to specify starting with Photon or not ( in the Global option ). No business of starting/stopping qnet. Same as touch /etc/ system/config/useqnet and delete /etc/system/config/useqnet. > I have doubts about whether or not this is going to be easily > implementable.
