WLAN problem with 3 QNX machines
I have started the orinoco wireless 802.11b pccards on three independant qnx machines. The driver should be mounted well
, but when i tried to ping randomly from one to another, the network somehow failed to work properly. But may work well
occasionally. I set the orinoco driver like this:" mount -o channel=11,network=dong,mode=adhoc -T io-net devn-orinoco.so
".
e.g. i could ping thru from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.10, and also ok from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.10, but failed when
ping thru from 192.168.1.1 to 1.2, and vice versa.

I wonder if it is the problem of adhoc network configuration or any other possible reasons.

Thanks,
Eric

11b has an issue that it is easier to be interfered by other electronics
running 2.4GHz. Do you have such as bluetooth devices nearby?

Another thing might is worth to do is to use ifconfig to force the card
operating mode be 11b. It might be helpful than "auto" as the card at
least needs no detect operation for 11b (e.g. if it also supports 11g).

Thanks

i have set the mode to adhoc with the channel 11 assignment. there should be no device working at 2.4G nearby. Just
confused since i have previously set up them well and they could also work with adhoc mode. But not the case this time.
  Any other advice? thx

RE: RE: WLAN problem with 3 QNX machines
Can 1.1 ping 1.10?

Re: RE: RE: WLAN problem with 3 QNX machines
Sorry, just realized my topic title is wrong.
I have two qnx632 machines(192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2) and one xp machine(192.168.1.10), all with the Orinoco pcccard.
The situation is like this:
ping operation ok btw 1.1 and 1.10, and also ok btw 1.2 and 1.10, but could not btw 1.1 and 1.2 most of the time, just
ok for a few occasional times.

Thanks,
Eric
RE: RE: RE: WLAN problem with 3 QNX machines
What happens if you remove the XP machine from the network? Same
problem?

Re: RE: RE: RE: WLAN problem with 3 QNX machines
In this case, neither could be ping thru. But from the packet sniffer software on the XP, I could see the pkts sent from
QNX machine(1.1) to the other(1.2), but the other seemed unable to respond the ping request. I checked the statistics
with "nicinfo". The number of received pkts didnot increase.

But i have successfully done this before with almost the same setting. Still get trapped.

RE: RE: RE: RE: WLAN problem with 3 QNX machines
Could you post this question in the drivers forum? This would appear to
be moer of a driver issue than a general networking issue. Different
people monitor the forums, so I think you'll get a better response
there.
