Where can I download io-net soucre?
I am hoping someone can help me with what I'm sure is a very straightforward question!

As I say in the subject, I'm looking to download the io-net source code (not the new io-pkg stuff for legacy reasons). I
have quite literally been on this site and google for several hours trying to find where I can download it without
success. I'd be really grateful if someone could provide me a URL as to where to get this "historical" versions of QNX
networking, that is based on netBSD 1.6.

Thank you so much!

The old stuff has never been posted.

I don't think we have io-net publicly available.

Thanks

RE: Where can I download io-net soucre?
In the past, Rob has given out source to some of
the io-net drivers (the ones without NDA). I have
pushed to get all the possible io-net driver source
posted, but no dice so far.

When you say io-net source, do you mean an io-net driver,
tcp/ip or qnet protocol, or the io-net infrastructure
itself? All very different.

TCP/IP stuff I'd say. I'm basically looking for everything related to the IP stack implementation including the ipv6
ipsec stuff if possible. But from the other comments, it seems there's not much hope of finding it unfortunately... :-(

Thanks,

Hi Howard:

The io-net source code will not be publically released. There
is a version of the source which in the Extended Networking Toolkit for
6.3.x which is available through our sales channels.

	Robert.

Thanks for that Robert. I believe that my company/project already has the source code so there's no point me buying it.
Unfortunately though that's not going to be available to me for several weeks and I was hoping to get a head start as it
 were, by downloading myself.

I'm a bit confused though (and new QNX) so perhaps someone can enlighten me. Isn't netBSD a truly open source
development? And my understanding was that QNX was built on top/made use of this (at less the networking stuff)? Now I
was under the impression that anything that is built upon an open source kit normally does so under the license
agreement that the new software must itself be open source. Is this not the case?

IANAL but... It depends on the originating license. What you describe
is true of the GPL but the BSD license is much less restrictive
(depending on your POV).

RE: RE: Where can I download io-net soucre?
Hi Howard:
Yeah... The io-net stuff is a different beast. It's based upon
NetBSD 1.6 (!) so is quite old. We figure that dealing with io-pkt as
an open project is going to keep us busy enough that having io-net out
there as well would only act as a distraction and, given that it's only
in maintenance mode now, wouldn't provide much value.

The BSD license is very different from the GPL license. It essentially
says that the source code is yours to use as is with very little
restrictions (other than indicating that it is BSD licensed). No need
to provide the modified source to anyone. That's why it's such an
attractive license from the commercial point of view.

	Robert.
