Hmmm... Are the perms for .rhosts 600?

I'm trying to get rcp to work as root but to no avail, I can rsh/rlogin.
rcp work with other users.

I created a /root/.rhosts with + root in it but still no go.

Arrrrrrrgggggg. I created a .rhosts file and a /root/.rhosts but only chmod 600t on /.rhosts. I found some document on 
internet that mention /.rhost so I tried that.
