devn-e1000
Can't find the original post, but Hugh posted an experimental devn-e1000.so for me to try. It's been over a month, just
got time to try it now.

It doesn't detect network connection. The status as reported by nicinfo says "Unknown". Once after a reboot I got it to
indicated "0 Mb/s half-duplex".

The same hardware is handled fine by devn-i82544.so

Please try this updated version and let me know if it resolves the
problem.

No go. If I force the speed and duplex setting it works though.

I have attached the sloginfo info.

Thanks

Mario,

Please try the attached driver. I have tested this one on the same
hardware device ID that you have and it works fine for me.

Thanks, Hugh.

All the test I did so far was on a 100Mbit Switch. Given you said it was working for you I assumed there had to be
something else different in our respective setup. I tried connecting to a 1Gig port on that switch ( it as 1 1Gig port)
and what do you know it worked.

I then tried going back to 100Mbit and same results, no connection.

With 100MBits the status leds on both the switch and card stay off, as if the cable was never connected.
RE: RE: RE: devn-e1000
That's strange, as I specifically tested it on both 100Mb and Gigabit
and it worked fine. What type of 100Mb switch do you have?

Cisco Catalist 3350. I will try with other models.

Tried with a Cisco 2940 and a old 10Mbit hub. Refuses to autodetect but 1G. Tried 2 cards and 2 cables.

RE: RE: RE: RE: devn-e1000
I don't know why we always seem to have problems with Cisco switches. I
don't have one here, so I will have to see what I can do. It won't be
right away, as I have other priorities right now.

Thanks. Meanwhile I'll keep on testing at 1Gig to see if it resolves our other problem.
