I know that io-net drivers for the BCM43xx have support for WPA, but where is the wpa client? wpa-2? Unfortunately, this is needed for io-net for the time being, at least until io-pkt is officially released. Thanks, Rich
Hi Rich: Unfortunately, there is no support for WPA / WPA2 in io-net. It's WEP only exactly for the reason that there is no io-net WPA supplicant. Robert - The QNX 6.3.2 release notes indicate WPA is supported with Broadcom - is this an error? <http://www.qnx.org/developers/docs/6.3.2/momentics/release_notes/rel_6.3 .2.html> - Dan
The Broadcom driver has a built-in WPA supplicant. I stand (well... sit) corrected. That's what I get for not double checking first :>. How can I configure the builtin WPA supplicant? I don't see it referenced in the devn docs. <http://www.qnx.org/developers/docs/6.3.2/neutrino/utilities/d/devn-bcm43xx.so.html> Thanks, Dan
All the parameters for the WPA supplicant are passed on the command line. What exactly do you want to configure? -----Original Message----- From: Dan Giorgis [mailto:dang@tridium.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 1:29 PM To: drivers-networking Subject: Re: RE: RE: WPA and WPA-2 client for io-net for Broadcomm wifi chips How can I configure the builtin WPA supplicant? 1. the driver needs to be configured and compiled with WPA turned on; 2. I think QNX has ported the BCM wireless interface wlu and can be accessed by running bcm_wlu from command line; (by running it without any parameters, you got the help menu); -Shannon
Rich Moore started this thread on my behalf - let me restate what I'm trying to do and maybe that will clear things up. We are using QNX 6.3.2 with io-net (not io-pkt). We want to use a Broadcomm WiFi card. WPA is required for the customer application. So, my questions are: Is WPA compiled into the devn-bcm43xx binary distributed with QNX 6.3.2? If so, where can I find documentation on how to turn on WPA and config it?
Yes, the driver is compiled with WPA. If you do a 'use /lib/dll/devn-bcm43xx.so', it will give you the necessary information to configure WPA. -----Original Message----- From: Dan Giorgis [mailto:dang@tridium.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 3:33 PM To: drivers-networking Subject: Re: RE: RE: RE: WPA and WPA-2 client for io-net for Broadcomm wifi ch Rich Moore started this thread on my behalf - let me restate what I'm trying to do and maybe that will clear things up. Thanks Hugh - that's exactly what I was looking for - Dan
Just out of curious -- does the BCM driver wpa support WPA enterprise mode? As far as I know it only support up to PSK mode... Thanks, Shannon
No, the Broadcom driver doesn't support enterprise mode. -----Original Message----- From: Shannon Gu [mailto:shannon@devicescape.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 4:38 PM To: drivers-networking Subject: Re: RE: RE: RE: RE: WPA and WPA-2 client for io-net for Broadcomm wif Just out of curious -- does the BCM driver wpa support WPA enterprise mode?
