Attempted to beginRule: R/, does not match outer scope rule: P/<protect name>
I have a qnx make project and it has begun to give me the above message when I try to clean it.

Attached is the resultant log

I can get around it, it's just a bit annoying....

Thanks
Kevin

Thank you for reporting problem. So far I haven't seen anything like
that. I keep my eye on it. It could be useful if you provide more
details about your configuration and your project. Small example that
lets to reproduce the problem would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Alex

I'd like to give you the whole project, but the whole NDA thing...

Can you tell me what this message means? Where it might come from?

I've attached my common.mk file in case it might have something interesting.

Thanks
Kevin

It's internal Eclipse message, so I don' see any direct connection with
your project, I just want to have any reproducible case. Actually, the
fixing doesn't seem to me difficult, but before applying itI'd like to
know why it happend and the test case.

Thanks,

Alex

Re: Attempted to beginRule: R/, does not match outer scope rule: P/<protect name>
Hey Alex,

It's difficult for me to give you a case wherein this will occur as I don't really understand it to begin with. All I
know is that when I do a right click on the project, select clean, and when it has finishes, this error comes up in a
dialog box.

What is happening at the completion of the execution of the Makefile that has the chance of this occuring? Is it error
parsing perhaps, or something else?

I just don't understand eclipse well enough to be able to provide you with any useful information.

Thanks much and Happy New Year to you.

Kevin

I have the veruysame problem
But in my case It can be easily reproduced.
I have some project and I use Selenium.
So when I'm trying to attach Selenium source I have this error
Re: Attempted to beginRule: R/, does not match outer scope rule: P/<protect name>
Hi, Varya,

This error message most likely indicates a bug in the IDE, as it is an
assertion checking for invalid use of the Eclipse API.

If you can share a project that demonstrates the problem, and we are
able to observe it, then it can be addressed. Perhaps you can start by
posting your workspace log file, which should have a backtrace of the
assertion (the .metadata/.log file in your workspace folder). That may
be enough to identify the cause.

Cheers,

Christian
