the installation was a "clean" one (just an unpack).
But this is  not the only version of momentics and eclipse I am using.

removing the configuration folder did not help I had to remove both,
the config folder and the workspace, after this it worked

I walked through the vmargs and found the
	-configuration configurationFileURL
I am now using this option, and it seems to do what I am expecting
It stores the config stuff in different folders so I could use my different installations without any more side effects.
