Forum Topic - Momentics configuration dir on Win32: (4 Items)

Momentics configuration dir on Win32
Hello,

Momentics stores the basic IDE configuration in a configuration directory at %documents_and_settings/%user/momentics
while eclipse defaults to the (more appropriate) %documents_and_settings/%user/%applicationdata/Eclipse. Is there a
specific reason for that? There has been the requirement to store the configuration in the latter tree to keep company
wide IS rules and certain malware scanners content.

Can this directory be set manually as a parameter?

Thanks,

Re: Momentics configuration dir on Win32
There is a reason to store Momentics specific configuration data to user's home dir. One of the main reasons is to
support shared installation, e.g. the company controls the installation base. Users run from that base and keep their
data in their home dirs. To facility this requirement on both Linux and Windows hosts - the user's home is chosen.

If users have particular requirement to change that configuration data directory, they can use the "-configuration"
command line option to re-define it.

Andy

Indeed it is, yet it defaults to $home/$Application_name equivalent while usually windows applications should store
their settings in "$home/Application Data/$Application_name/" and this is where it comes to problems because the
company's IS solution just maintains the known subdirs (like 'Application Data', 'Favourites', etc) and will ignore
others, like 'momentics'. But you already gave the solution:

That should work.

Thanks for the help!
