For appearance sake. Few take that extra space as something missed from being listed. Just to avoid this mislead. Any 
other suggestions?

You can to try to play with the Pt_RESIZE_FLAGS, but it will only work well with a "static" content. The widget is 
dynamic. When you click on a directory it will expand -- and the widget will need more vertical space. 
I will need more details on why you would like to have the "extra space" removed.
