Forum Topic - Photon fonts have no Greek characters?: (6 Items)

Photon fonts have no Greek characters?
Hi!

We are currently using following fonts in our device:
tt2001m_.ttf - PrimaSansBT-Roman
tt2003m_.ttf - PrimaSansBT-Bold
These fonts draw empty boxes (in Photon) instead of Greek characters.

1. Does it means that Greek character subset is not present in listed fonts?
It seems so, because when I temporary change these fonts to Arial from MS Windows, it did draw Greek characters.

2. If so, are this fonts available with Greek character subset? Can we get them?

Thanks!

Re: Photon fonts have no Greek characters?
The only fonts (*I BELIEVE*), that have a full set of Greek glyphs, are oriental fonts. You can use the attached handy
utility to obtain the exact list of characters per font.
You can use the /usr/photon/font_repository/fontext file to specify what files to look at when processing "missing"
characters.

Re: Photon fonts have no Greek characters?
Hi Misha,

thanks for fast reply!
Using your utility (thanks again!), I found that both fonts (tt2001m_.ttf and tt2003m_.ttf) handle no Greek subset
(0x0370-0x03FF and 0x1F00-0x1FFF).

Can you recommend some font that looks similar to PrimaSansBT-Roman/Bold and covers at least range 0x0370-0x03FF? Arial
from MS Windows, for example, renders in Photon very differently from PrimaSansBT family... Even heights of rendered
symbols doesn't fits exactly!

Thank!

PrimaSans is kind of based on Verdana. You want to find something
similar.

Re: Photon fonts have no Greek characters?
I know the Bitsteam sells this font 'Swis721Greek BT' which has the most of Greek Characters (one of our customers uses
it). You can go to their website and check it: http://new.myfonts.com/foundry/Bitstream/
Re: Photon fonts have no Greek characters?
The Bitstreams font file name is tt6450m_.ttf.
