making qnx4 filesystems from linux
Hello,
I'm a relative newbie to qnx, so pardon me if this question is obvious. I am trying to create custom CF card images of
QNX 6.3.2. The process seems to be working, because when I tried it on a CF card which had already been formatted (by a
QNX host) as a qnx4 filesystem, it booted and worked as expected. The process I followed was as follows: (sdX being the
CF device under Linux)
1. dinit -h /dev/sdX1
2. diint -h /dev/sdX -B pc2
3. Expand a tarball of preselected QNX 6.3 binaries (from the Momentics targets), and a custom boot image (created with
mkifs).
The same process does not work when I start of with a fresh CF card (1 Gigabyte, formatted as a FAT32 partition). I
believe I somehow need to format this filesystem as qnx4, but I do not know if Momentics under QNX has any such tools to
do so. I have tried using linux fdisk to delete the FAT32 partition, create a raw partition, changed the type to 4D
(type 77, QNX4) and then attempting the above commands. I see no errors there, but when I try to boot with this CF, all
i see is
hit Esc for .altboot.....................................................................
........................................................................................................................
................
........................................................................................................................
................
........................................................................................................................
................
and a few more lines until it stops.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Momentics 6.3.2 under Ubuntu Jaunty.
