Forum Topic - block size: (4 Items)

block size
From a distant time I vaguely remember something about increasing the block size from 512 to say 1024.

Comments?
Re: block size
Mario,

Which filesystem(s) are you referring to? The block size of the qnx4 fs is still 512, and the EIDE HDD is also still
512 bytes.

Either qnx4 or qnx6 fs. I remember a discussion driver by Igor a few years back.

The idea of bigger block size at the fs level was better performance, reduce overhead, increase maximum partition size.
I think most modern fs have block size of around 4K?

Re: block size
Mario,

qnx6fs uses 1024 byte blocks. Since it can be different on each filesystem, the easiest way to check the current
blocksize is to use "df -g", which will return the statvfs information, including block size.
