IMX6 freescale Sabre lite Board getting heated up
Hello All

Iam using Imx6 freescale sabrelite board load BSP provided by QNX "BSP_freescale-imx6q-sabrelite_br-650_be-
650sp1_SVN718398_JBN28.zip" on to the board.

The board is generating lot of heat even a 3 minitues up and running of QNX os will generate too much of heat. Can
anyone please give me solution to reduce the amount of heat been geneated by the board.

This heat happen only when QNX OS is up and running.

Regards
Kaushik
Re: IMX6 freescale Sabre lite Board getting heated up
Please download the latest Sabre-Lite BSP which should resolve heat issues. There was an issue where the audio codec was
 heating up which was fixed.
Re: IMX6 freescale Sabre lite Board getting heated up
I am also facing same issue. Please help us solve this ASAP.

Regards,
Rahman

Re: IMX6 freescale Sabre lite Board getting heated up
Hi Mark,

I tried with both 6.5 and 6.6.
Re: IMX6 freescale Sabre lite Board getting heated up
Using the latest BSP on F27, E.g. for 6.5.0 SP1
"BSP_freescale-imx6q-sabrelite_br-650_be-650sp1_SVN737078_JBN59.zip”?

Also you can enable DVFS to reduce temperature, make sure to use the "-w”
option if using 6.5.0 SP1 without the updated kernel patch. DVFS can also
display the core temperature at runtime. Also you can add a heatsink like
Freescale does with their SABRE ARD Quad reference boards.

Re: IMX6 freescale Sabre lite Board getting heated up
Hi Mark,

Greetings!!
I am using "BSP_freescale-imx6q-sabrelite_br-650_be-650sp1_SVN737078_JBN59.zip" which you had mentioned.

I will enable DVFS and update the result.

Thanks
Regards,
Rahman

Power Level = 4
Mode = Auto (0)
CPU0 Load = 0
CPU1 Load = 0
CPU2 Load = 0
CPU3 Load = 0

----------------------
# cat /dev/dvfs
----------------------
   Core Temp = 44
   Mode = Auto (0)
----------------------
  # | App | Thermal
----------------------
  0 | - | -
  1 | - | -
  2 | - | -

Re: IMX6 freescale Sabre lite Board getting heated up
Hi Mark,

Core temperature decreased from 56 to 47 C after enabling the DVFS. It improved bit.

Is there anything else we can do to reduce it more?

Re: IMX6 freescale Sabre lite Board getting heated up
Rahman

Please make sure using DVFS all the IO are functioning fine we used DVFS to
reduce temperature but unfortunately SDIO card was not functioning.

Please verify the same.

Kaushik
