64 bits iOS7
Now that the new iPhone5S has 64 bits support, in a freaking phone I might add, maybe i`ll put pressure on BlackBerry/
Qnx to come up with a 64 bit OS, to you know to put in computer having more ram than a smartphone.

RE: 64 bits iOS7
Don't you know smartphones are replacing computers ;-)

Seriously, QNX6 supports PAE, is it insufficient for your needs?

RE: 64 bits iOS7
<Editorial>

Are you saying windows, Linux, osx, ios7,vxworks, freebsd all have included 64 bit support for no good reason? That
Intel, AMD, Motorola, IBM, ARM, MIPS, Renesas have all 64 bit support in their hardware to create hype? I have to admit
that sounds like that's what Apple just did.

I will refrain from mentioning a company that forgot to keep pace with trends and technologies, that is most probably
about to be sold piece by piece, because if I was to mention it that would be rude, inappropriate and over simplifying a
complex series of event. By the way when did the latest version of QNX come out, hum 3 years and 3months ago, yeah ok 1
years if we include SP1,i'll give you that. Overall that kinda sounds like not keeping pace, but again I am over
simplifying.

When one creates a product based on an operating system, one become, to some degree dependant on the company making the
OS. If that OS maker does not keep pace with technology, you will be affected, if they drop a product line you will be
affected. Just imagine a taxi company having based their tracking system on the Playbook, well their in deep trouble
now (fictional scenario). The ability to create better product, to reduce time to market is affected by the tool being
used. Sure one can jump through loops to get away with 32 bits, might even be possible to do it in 16bits and assembly
code, but that wouldn't be good business.

<Editorial />

Chris, PAE is not going to be sufficient for our needs, soon. My offer to come visit our offices and see what we do
still stand ;-)

Re: 64 bits iOS7
Mario,

do you mean it makes sense to have 64 bit support for partial supported
x86 chip sets ?
Isn't the fully support of newer x86 chip sets ( like Haswell a.s.o)
more important even in 32 bit mode ??

RE: 64 bits iOS7
Don't know, but for what we do 64 is important, and the subject of my post. I could have mentionned NUMA, Hyperthreading
, browser, etc. I stated my concern, it's up to QNX to make their choice. It's obvious to me most of their resources
are focus on the CAR thingy and BlackBerry, while you and I, the industrial users have been left behind. Just trying
to make some noise even though money is the real language for this;-)

If you can get me one for free I wouldn`t mind trying it ;-) But I`d never buy it however good the experience is, a

We are getting off topic aren`t we, lol!

It would be better to have awesome experiences with Qt/Cascades based
apps ... BB10 alone is not so interesting from users POV.
Or do you mean a "network of cores " on a smartphone is very exiting ?

Re: 64 bits iOS7
Just the fact that QNX is in a mobile device is exciting for me...the things that have and will be accomplished is/will
be fun to be a part of.

More and more Cascades apps are being developed for BB10 both in automotive and mobile computing, and with the coming
release, nothing stopping other verticles from doing the same...very exciting times indeed!

It would be better to have awesome experiences with Qt/Cascades based

RE: 64 bits iOS7
AFAIK, Qt 5 will be available in the next release(don't know about Cascades). Also html5 runtime will be shipped.
There is also the StoryBoard runtime from Crank Software .
