How do I teardown an interrupt thread blocked on InterruptWait(0, NULL)?

When I bring down my device driver, how do I stop the interrupt thread, which is blocked on  InterruptWait(0, NULL)?

Is this the correct approach?
int pthread_cancel( pthread_t thread );
